Caves in Budapest

The longest cave of Budapest is the Palvolgyi Cave. The other major cave systems in Budapest are Matyas-hegyi cave, Ferenc-hegyi cave, Jozsef-hegyi cave and Szemlo-hegyi cave.

Palvolgyi Cave - Budapest





Palvolgyi Cave is the second longest cave in the country.  The length of the cave is 29 km, the length of the tourist route - 500 m.  The temperature is a constant 10 Celsius, so dress up accordingly. The cave can be visited only with a guide, the tours leave every hour at 15 minutes. A visit to the cave is allowed to children from 5 years old.Full Price: 1200 HUF/person

Working time: Every day except Monday from 10.00 to 16.15

From June 1 to August 31 at weekends, working time is from 10.00 to 17.00)

Szemlő-hegyi cave - Budapest


Szemlő-hegyi - cave was discovered during a construction work in the year 1930. After few years 2200 meter passage was discovered inside this cave. The vertical dimension is 50m. The high walls and steep of this cave is well adorned with minerals. The cave is under increased natural protection. The temperature is a constant 10 Celsius, so dress up accordingly. The 1hour tour starts every hour, on the hour, the last at 3pm.
