Saint Stephen's Day Celebration 2013, Budapest

St. Stephen's Day,  Foundation of State. St. Stephen of Hungary (Szent István király in Hungarian) (ca. 975 – 15 August 1038), was the first king of Hungary, and led the country into the Christian church. Stephen was canonized on the August 20th, 1083. and become the Patron of Hungary.

St. Stephen's Day is celebrated with  day-long festivities  followed by spectacular fireworks display on the bank of the Danube in the evening, which is attended by many people on both river banks and is watched by many from the hills on the Buda side of the river.
